| A new McLeod Ganj organization staged a powerful
exhibition to show the flag for the Tibetan cause. The not-for-profit
Raise Tibetan Flags Campaign (RTFC) organized in response to
last month’s violence in Lhasa, held the fundraising Peace
Exhibition, comprising paintings and photographs by Tibetan
and western artists at the Tibet Museum between April 6 –
19.
RTFC, which aims to highlight the Tibetan cause by raising
as many flags as possible around the world, was formed last
month by Wen King, 23, from Taiwan/USA, and founder and director
of the Rogpa Charitable Trust, Tenzing Jamyang. The pair has
already distributed over 5,000 flags in the town.
Mr. Jamyang said, “This flag is filled with blood.
If you carry this flag in Tibet, you will be shot down by
the Chinese army. Even if you put it in your cupboard, and
your house is searched, you will be in very deep trouble.
This flag is beautiful, and it is very dangerous to raise
in Tibet, but raising just one Tibetan flag in other parts
of the world shows the people of Tibet that we are standing
with them. It pays homage to those who have risked their lives
and are still languishing in prison.” Read
